the waiting game

our baby is now 4 days overdue and we are getting pretty bored waiting around for it to make an appearance. we have used the time constructively though - we've managed to get through a whole season of 24 (season 5) which was great quality and utterly addictive as usual.

so the race to get the house finished before the baby arrived was not as much of a race as we thought it was! but it's pretty much done now.

apparently there are some fabled suggestions as to how to encourage the onset of labour - curry and sex being two of them. Although, as comedian Jeff Green pointed out, having to make a choice between those two might be the reason you got yourself into this situation in the first place!

When we lived in Oxford, our second daughter was born within hours of us driving over Shotover in our old Renault 4 over undulating, dirt tracks (not sure if you'd be allowed to do it these days!). Wouldn't necessarily advise it, but it might be worth bearing in mind if nothing's happened in a week's time! Good luck!

I have got to stop checking this blog several times a day wondering if the Ress child has arrived. You have to promise to post post-haste.

We tried everything we heard of (the above, plus raspberry leaf tea, Pineapple and God knows what else). Don't think any of them worked though.

Keep us posted

Have just seen Suzie's blog! Oh thank goodness the waiting’s over! Very many congratulations to you all! We’ve never met but, rather like Nadia, I’ve been logging on to your blog for news on a regular basis; I’ve been wanting to say “Matt, come on, we need daily updates” (but I know that’s pointless until things actually start to happen). It’s a beautiful thing. I know Advent is a time of waiting, but… Welcome to the world Lily-Anna!
